Rule #1 is an old one, and should be the guiding principle: Consider any network transmission public.

Even the strongest encrypted communication should contain the strict minimum of data that could come back to bite you in the arse. There is a human being at the other end that may eventually decide you are NOT liked anymore, after all.

I remain a big fan of hiding in plain sight. Closed codes and paraphrases have a way to be forgotten after a few years that can defy any archiving. Just think of the last time you had to use a "password hint", if you were even moderately cryptic in creating it.

So as for that nudie pic you just sent - don't. Photos have a way of NOT degrading over time, and multiply instead. The genie does not go back in the bottle.

Would be interesting to see the % of 'net pr0n that's involuntary.

Exceedingly huh? This is an infosec blog, not CNN or the local Jacksonville newspaper.

We're primarily interested in the security aspects of the story:

Don't send naked pictures of yourself, even if its legal, because it will result in some sort of pain in the ass.

Don't fire off the "you're fired" e-mail without talking to a lawyer.

Lack of a policy in place, then references to policy in the "you're fired" e-mail.

Do your forensics work if you're going to lay out that the images were sent from a school computer.

People get off on sending naked pictures of themselves? Really? Thank you for that insight.

If there is a policy of not viewing porn on school computers the principal has violated that policy and should stand down.

This story is exceedingly disappointing without further evidence of the crimes at hand.

Also, people like taking pictures of their junk because it's sexually exciting.

Please proofread your copy. This sentence should have read:

It was no more the high school’s business than it was that of the mother, unless a school computer was used.
