@RackSpace Cloud User - I spoke to someone at RackSpace as well as checked out other sources and I can't find anything but conjecture to support what you're saying (one blog points out that they think a lot of WordPress sites that were defaced were hosted at RackSpace, one blog publishes an open letter to RackSpace but still thinks the vulnerability was a WordPress problem).

Do you have any further information?

TechCrunch is not on a "box" at RackSpace -- it is hosted on RackSpace Cloud Sites -- and this hack - as well as hundreds of others were via a vulnerability in the RackSpace Cloud Sites web-based file manager.

The saps at RackSpace Cloud know as much about security as they do about the difference between fake-"fanatical" support and actual tech support (were stuff is actually done, instead of just talked about).

m0rla was (probably still is) the handle of a hacker famous for breaking into a server handling contest registrations in a hacking contest years ago.

Still I haven't seen any actual attribution to him, the TechCrunch comment by itself isn't much.
